It’s a cliffhanger that left Rookie Blue fans on the edge of their seats: Andy confessing her love for Sam as he fights for his life inside an ambulance after being shot by Kevin Ford. Complicating matters, of course, is her ongoing relationship with Nick.

Who will Andy choose? Will she stay with reliable Nick or give McSwarek fans what they want?

Meanwhile, Chloe, also shot by Ford, fights for her life in hospital while boyfriend Dov gets the shock of his life when a man shows up at the hospital claiming to be Chloe’s husband.

Season four ended with many questions – questions Cheryl Hickey does her best to get the answers to as she visits the Rookie Blue set for ET Canada Presents: Rookie Blue Behind the Badge – a half-hour special offering fans a inside look at season five of the hit drama, airing Thursday at 9 on Global. “It picks up three hours after the chaos of the finale,” reveals Missy Peregrym, who plays Andy, of the season five premiere.  “It’s a crazy, exciting episode,” adds Gregory Smith who plays Dov.

When we last saw the officers of 15 Division, Nick seemed resigned to the fact that Andy’s heart belongs to Nick – encouraging her to go to his hospital bedside. But Missy says that doesn’t mean a McSwarek conscious re-coupling is a foregone conclusion. “It’s a really complicated situation,” she says. “I’ve obviously admitted to Sam that I love him which, of course I do! But I’m with a guy who I really value and appreciate and we’re great together.”

We can’t tell you who Andy chooses but we can tell you the season five premiere is an emotional one. “I think one of the hardest episodes I had to shoot was the premiere for this year,” says Missy. “I remember having to cry for nine days in a row. It’s exhausting.”  Season five also promises to be exhausting for Dov as he struggles to accept the news his girlfriend Chloe is married. “We’re shooting as we speak so I don’t know how it all gets resolved but it does become a pretty big issue,” offers Greg. “It’s a big problem in season five.”

In addition to an on-set interview with Missy and Greg, ET Canada Presents: Rookie Blue Behind The Badge also goes on location with Ben Bass who plays Sam Swarek as he shoots what’s sure to be an explosive episode! We try to find out how Sam’s shooting affects his feelings for Andy; we hit the gym with Travis Milne who plays Chris Diaz to find out how he stays in tip top cop shape; we go into the archives to find our first interview with the Rookie Blue cast; we offer a preview of an upcoming episode of Rookie Blue in which our very own Roz Weston has a guest appearance and we have an exclusive sneak peak of season five that you won’t see anywhere else!
