After five years of marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes confirm exclusively to People they are getting a divorce.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,”; says the actress’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”;
Tom’s rep also released a statement on Friday on the actor’s behalf: “Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.”;
Katie was noticeably absent from Tom’s Rock of Ages premiere in Hollywood, currently living in NYC with their daughter, Suri, 6 (she is pictured still wearing her wedding ring on Wednesday, June 27).

Tom, 49, and Katie, 33, wed in a romantic ceremony in a castle in Italy in November 2006.
The news comes after the actor, who turns 50 on July 3, recently revealed he has no plans to expand his family: “I’m so happy with three.”;
“I’m enjoying every second with Suri that I have,” he adds. “And I’m enjoying the relationship with my older kids, and the way it is right now.”
