When Gwyneth Paltrow appears a movie, it’s kind of a big deal. Not simply because the freshly separated actor is an Oscar-winning A-lister. Nope, it’s because Gwyneth has a longstanding rule: only make one film a year.
The reason for this is pretty straightforward: she’s got two children, and doesn’t like being apart from them for long stretches. Makes sense to us. The question is, when you can only land one job a year, which one do you take?
Well, if you’re Gwyneth, you choose to appear in a remake of the Oscar-wnning crime thriller El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The Secret in Their Eyes).
Deadline confirms Gwyneth has signed on to star in the dark drama alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave). Penned by writer Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games), the rejiggered script follow a former MI-5 agent (Ejiofor) who, while on a joint task force with the FBI, finds himself obsessed with a years-old unsolved murder.
The Secret in Their Eyes marks Gwyneth’s first official gig since announcing her split from Coldplay hubby Chris Martin back in March.
