Leonardo DiCaprio has long been a champion for environmental causes, and now his charity, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has announced $15.6 million worth of grants to help stop climate change and preserve wildlife.

The Oscar-winning actor is the founder and chairman of the organization which he began in 1998 and has granted over $59 million since then to various organizations that support the foundation’s mission statement to bring “long-term health and well-being of all Earth’s inhabitants.”

This year, more than 20 organizations received grants from the foundation including Oceans 5, Elephant Crisis Fund, Defenders of Wildlife, International Fund for Animal Welfare and Amazon Watch. These organizations support the four key areas of concern for DiCaprio: climate change, wild lands conservation, oceans conservation and protecting the biodiversity of the Earth.

On Earth Day 2016, DiCaprio addressed the United Nations on climate change as leaders from 170 nations gathered to sign the Paris Agreement, the climate pact that has countries committing to slow global warming.
