The Polaris Music Prize is one of Canada’s most prestigious honours that can be bestowed upon homegrown musical talent, and this year’s shortlist of 10 nominees was revealed in an announcement today.

The 10 artists vying for the title of Best Canadian Album of the Year are:

Black Mountain – “IV”

Basia Bulat – “Good Advice”

Grimes – “Art Angels”

Carly Rae Jepsen – “E•MO•TION”

Kaytranada – “99.9%”

Jessy Lanza – “Oh No”

PUP – “The Dream Is Over”

Andy Shauf – “The Party”

U.S. Girls – “Half Free”

White Lung – “Paradise”

The Polaris Music Prize gala will take place on Sept. 19 in Toronto and will be hosted by Tom Power, host of CBC Radio 2 Morning, and Amanda Parris, host of CBC Radio 2’s Marvin’s Room. In addition, the event will also be livestreamed at CBCMusic.ca/polarisprize.
