After five decades in the business, Barbara Walters is officially retiring. And when you’re a news icon of her stature, you’re obviously in for one heck of a send-off.
So how’s this for a going-away present: on Thursday, Barbara was joined by every single co-host of The View, past and present. We’re talking eleven in total: everyone from Meredith Vieira, Whoopi Goldberg, Jenny McCarthy, Sherri Shepherd, Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, Joy Behar, Lisa Ling, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O’Donnell.
And although the long-running daytime talk program is well known for its occasional bouts of in-fighting, the 84-year-old’s retirement/reunion was nothing but smiles, reminiscing, and good vibes all around. In fact, partway through the program, Barbara felt the overwhelming need to exclaim, “I love you all!”;
As for her retirement plans? “I can’t wait to have unstructured time,”; Barbara said. |”;To have lunch with the girlfriends, to go to a matinée if I feel like it, just to have that kind of freedom.”;
