First came the book of shadows. Now comes motorcycles.
Keanu Reeves is turning his latest passion into a new business venture. “The Matrix” star has released a brand new style of motorcycle through his Arch Motorcycle Company which he co-founded in 2014 with Greg Hollinger. After four years of building, Reeves’ company is ready to build and sell custom motorcycles. The custom-built bikes come with a hefty price tag: the starting model will run over $80,000 and increase from there, depending on customization options.
Reeves, who earlier this year released a book about shadows in conjuction with artist Alexandra Grant, says he didn’t intend to create a motorcycle company.

In 2006, the actor brought one of his Harley-Davidsons to Hollinger to customize the seat. Hollinger refused to change the seat and instead ended up building Reeves an entirely new, custom machine.
“Four years later, we had a motorcycle,” Reeves tells CNBC. “And we looked at that bike and [I] was like, ‘That’s an amazing machine. It rides amazing. Do you wanna start a motorcycle company?'” Hollinger was hesitant at first, not wanting to get involved with a Hollywood actor’s fleeting vanity project.

“I said, ‘Listen, man, we’re gonna die. You know? We’re gonna die,'” Reeves recalls of their pair’s initial talks. “‘Let’s build something. This machine is incredible. What you’ve done is amazing. Let’s try.'”
Motorcycles have long been one of the star’s passions. “For me, riding is a kind of freedom. Just the sound, the feeling of it. The connection to the road, to riding, to the environment, to the journey,” he says, before likening his riding experience to being on a movie set. “When you come to that moment when you’re on the bike and you’re riding, or when you come to a moment and the director says, ‘Action,’ it’s almost like everything that you are, everything that you feel or think, is alive after that,” he explains. “You’re completely present and you disappear. And yet you’re fully there. Which is a wonderful sensation. I guess they call that being alive
