Rumours of a new “Batman” movie with Ben Affleck reprising the Caped Crusader have been circulating ever since the premiere of “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and it was made official today at Comic-Con.
During today’s Warner Bros. panel, it was revealed that not only will Affleck star in the as-yet-untitled movie, but he’ll also step behind the camera to direct.
“It’s really inspiring taking on something like this character and this story — the only thing analogous is like a great play that’s been done so many times before,” Affleck said at Comic-Con (as reported by CinemaBlend) in a surprise appearance, adding: “There’s a tremendous amount of pressure and work that’s already gone into it.”
During the panel, Affleck experienced his own ultra-nerdy Comic-Con moment when he took a selfie with the crowd.
No release date has been set for the new “Batman” movie, but Affleck will next be seen reprising the role in the upcoming “Justice League” flick, set to hit theatres in June 2019. Check out this first-look that Warner Bros. debuted during the Comic-Con panel:
