On last night’s American Idol season finale, viewers learned that the first concert ever attended by host Ryan Seacrest featured Richard Marx (revealed by Ryan’s mom, who was in the audience).

In remembrance of that special night, Ryan agreed to offer a musical tribute to the singer by performing his own version of the hit “Right Here Waiting.”; Getting Ryan to sing in public, admitted his mom before she introduced her son’s singing debut, “took a lot of convincing.”;

How did he do? Let’s just say it’s a good thing Simon Cowell’s no longer on the judging panel, as “Mr. Nasty”; would probably have some choice comments to make.

Things took a surprising twist, however, when Marx himself appeared and the Seacrest solo turned into a duet.

What do you think? Should Ryan keep his day job or hire a band and go on tour?
