Quentin Tarantino is planning to bring his blood-splattered blockbuster Django Unchained to the small screen as a four-part miniseries.

This new Django, however, won’t actually be new, but an extended version of the theatrical release that will include about 90 minutes of unused footage that never made it into the movie. The miniseries, he says, will consist of four one-hour episodes.

Tarantino made the announcement in a press conference at the Cannes film festival, where he’ll introduce a 20th-anniversary screening of his breakthrough movie Pulp Fiction.

As he explains, the four-hour Django Unchained “wouldn’t be an endurance test. It would be a miniseries and people love those. You show people a four-hour movie and they roll their eyes. Show people a four-part miniseries and they’ll sit and watch it all in one sitting.”;

No word yet on where or when the miniseries will air.
