X-Men: Days of Future Past dominated at the box office: the latest installment in the popular movie series grossed $261.8 million globally ($90.7 million domestically) making it the biggest opening weekend in the history of the franchise.

The movie also wears another distinction as it marks 20th Century Fox’s top international opening of all time, besting Avatar.

The flick unites the Marvel franchise’s original stars Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry and Patrick Stewart with reboot recruits Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult.
