Remember that time Shia LaBeouf was arrested for disrupting a Broadway production of “Cabaret”?

While that unfortunate incident made headlines, what isn’t known is that after his release from jail, the first thing LaBeouf did was rush to an audition with James Corden, where the two were in consideration to star in the big-screen comedy “War Dogs” (the roles ultimately went to Miles Teller and Jonah Hill).

This was revealed during last night’s edition of “The Late Late Show” by guest Todd Phillips, director of “War Dogs”, who brought along a copy of the audition tape featuring Corden and LaBeouf — who is wearing the same ripped blue shirt in the audition he was wearing when he exited jail.

“They take your shoelaces away in prison because they’re afraid you’re going to kill yourself, I suppose,” says Phillips of why LaBeouf auditioned with his shoelaces hanging from a pair of sunglasses he was wearing. “He was carrying his shoelaces and for some reason put them on his face.”

“It was so much fun,” reveals Corden of the audition, during which he continually cracks up at LaBeouf’s antics. Watch:
