It’s Mr. Bean to the rescue! Actor Rowan Atkinson was among the first to come to the rescue of a man who had crashed his McLaren F1 into a tree in Tuscany on Tuesday.
Atkinson was riding as part of a convoy of sports car enthusiasts when the driver ahead of him, a wealthy American businessman, lost control of his vehicle, which flipped upside and smashed into a tree. The businessman was eventually airlifted to a hospital in Pisa, where his injuries were said to not be serious.
In addition to helping the driver, Atkinson also helped with the clean-up effort—the 59-year-old actor was photographed picking up pieces of the wreckage from the side of the road.
The incident comes three years after Atkinson crashed his own McLaren F1 into a tree. Rather than replace the vehicle, the insurance company determined that it would be cheaper to repair it. The repairs came to £910,000, the most expensive car repair bill in U.K. history. Atkinson purchased the vehicle in 1997 with the proceeds from the first Mr. Bean movie.
