In a recent BBC Radio 5 interview, Angelina Jolie confirmed that she is in talks to portray Cleopatra in an upcoming film.
The actress, who can be seen on the big screen in the new Disney release Maleficent, said that there had been lots of different ideas as to who should direct (with Ang Lee, the previous frontrunner, apparently tied up on another project).
“The script has been written by Eric Roth, who is a dear friend and a brilliant writer,”; she said on the program.
“She’s complicated, it’s complicated to get this one right. I think we’re getting there. It’s getting close. I imagine the preparation for it is going to be big.”;
How big? Big enough that the actress even hinted that it’s the kind of role that would be a perfect sign-off for her acting career.
“It’s one of those that you think maybe that’s the one you put everything into and that’s where you end it, that’s where you finish – in a great way! What could you do beyond that one?”;
