When Patrick Stewart appears in the upcoming “Wolverine” sequel as Professor Charles Xavier, it will mark the actor’s seventh film appearance as the leader of the X-Men — and will be his last.

“I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me,” said Sir Patrick in an interview with ITV News. “But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it’s the end, it’s over.”

However, the actor also hinted that the Professor X we see in the still untitled sequel will be “a very different Charles Xavier” who is “nothing like the Charles Xavier you’ve seen in the past.”

Filming is currently underway on the “Wolverine” sequel, due for release in March 2017, with Hugh Jackman reprising his superheroic role from “The X-Men” films.
