Hot on the heels of the success of multiple Emmy-nominee “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”, the next true-crime case to be dramatized for television will be the still-unsolved murder of JonBenet Ramsey.
Eion Bailey will play Detective Steve Thomas, who originally investigated the case, in the upcoming Lifetime movie “Who Killed JonBenet?”, which will delve deep into what took place in December 1996, when the six-year-old Ramsey (played by Payton Lepinski) was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family’s home.

“With the addition of recently surfaced information, the film takes a fresh look at the events and the competing theories about the murder. Were Patsy (Julia Campbell) and John (Michael Gill) Ramsey responsible or covering for someone else in the family?” reads Lifetime’s announcement. “Was this a kidnapping gone wrong, or was this the work of a predator who had seen JonBenet in one of her pageants? Twenty years after the tragic events, the question remains: Who killed JonBenet?”
The case will also be examined in a six-part limited CBS docu-series, “THE CASE OF: JonBenet Ramsey”, set to debut on Sept. 18, in which a team of experts re-open the case, using cutting-edge forensic technology to try to solve the mystery.
