Sunnybrook Hospital Staff Pay Tribute To Tragically Hip

By Will Reid.

Staff at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital are saying “thank you” to Gord Downie, The Tragically Hip and donors to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.

In a new YouTube video, the staff gather around a giant heart with the words “Thank You” painted in the grass outside the hospital. They sing a snippet of the Hip’s 1992 single “Courage”, which includes the lyrics, “Courage/It couldn’t come at a worse time.”

The 15-date Canadian trek is billed as the band’s final outing, in light of lead singer Downie’s brain cancer diagnosis in December. Still, many concert-goers at Wednesday’s show noted his energy and joie de vivre onstage. Check out the video below for a taste of the band’s show.
