Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte are arguably the two best-known swimmers on the U.S. team competing at the Rio games, but that didn’t prevent a CBC announcer from mixing up the two men during a race.

CBC’s Elliotte Friedman made the mistake on last night’s broadcast during the men’s 200-metre individual medley. Phelps (in lane four) had a big lead after the final turn, while Lochte was in lane four, but Friedman mixed up the two and called Lochte as the winner.

After the goof-up, an apologetic Friedman took to Twitter to offer his mea culpa, writing: “I’m sorry everyone. I blew it. No excuses.”
