Count Robert de Niro among the growing number of celebrities speaking out against Donald Trump.
The American actor spoke his feelings on Trump’s presidential run, calling the whole ordeal: “totally nuts”.
De Niro was presenting a digital version of “Taxi Driver” at the Sarajevo Film Festival in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary. It was there that he delved further into Trump’s campaign: “I don’t know, it’s crazy that people like Donald Trump… he shouldn’t even be where he is, so God help us.”
The legendary movie-star was particularly concerned with the controversial statements the official Republican nominee has made: “What he’s been saying is really totally crazy, ridiculous … he is totally nuts.”
He noted, however, that the media is beginning to do a better job of reporting on Trump’s campaign: “But I think now they are really starting to push back, the media … finally they are starting to say: ‘Come on Donald, this is ridiculous, this is nuts, this is insane!’”
De Niro was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the 22nd annual film festival.
