The trailer for “Hidden Figures” gives us the first look at the pioneering black women at NASA who helped the US win the space race.

“Hidden Figures” stars Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, Taraji P. Henson and Janelle Monae as three of the brilliant physicists and mathematicians behind NASA’s early tests that helped get astronaut John Glenn into orbit, officially igniting the space race.

Directed by Theodore Melfi (“St. Vincent”), “Hidden Figures” looks to tell the unprecedented true story of the accomplishments of Katherine G. Johnson (Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Monae). Johnson went on to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama in 2015 for her contributions to NASA.
