While in Sydney, Australia in 2012, Jonah Hill almost drowned after getting “wasted” with Channing Tatum.

The pair were promoting their comedy “21 Jump Street” when Hill had to be rescued by lifeguards after getting caught in a riptide on the famed Bondi Beach.  The “War Dogs” actor recalls his near-drowning experience during an appearance on the Fitzy & Wippa radio show, claiming he had “too much fun” partying with Tatum before heading into the water.

“There was a long flight of having too much fun and I went in the water and got caught in a rip tide unfortunately,” he recalls.  A lifeguard raced over to him on a jet ski and pulled the actor safely to shore.

The 32-year-old actor previously spoke of the incident with Conan O’Brien.

“We go in the ocean and I start swimming and then what feels like a second later I look back and Chan’s about a mile away from me,” he said.  “I start to swim as hard as I can and I’m not going anywhere and so I’m like, ‘This is how I die…’ I am a guy who died in the ocean in Australia…wasted.”
