Angry Al Roker Battles Billy Bush, Slams Ryan Lochte On ‘Today’: ‘He Lied!’

By Brent Furdyk.

Things got tense on “Today” when Al Roker agreed to disagree with Billy Bush over the Ryan Lochte scandal, with Bush (to whom Lochte gave the original interview outlining his false story of being robbed at gunpoint in Rio) defending Lochte by stating “the kid” only messed up “a few details” of the story.

Roker, however, wasn’t buying it, and fired back in an exchange that grew increasingly heated.

“He lied. He lied to you. He lied to Matt Lauer. He lied to his mom. He left his team mates hanging while he skedaddled,” Roker said, his voice rising in anger. “There was no robbery. There was no pull-over. There was nothing. Nobody cocked a gun to his head. He lied!”

While “Today” co-host Natalies Morales appeared to agree with Al, after the broadcast Bush took to Twitter to defend his position, saying he was simply playing “devil’s advocate.”

Bush wasn’t the only person in the Twitterverse to comment on the testy exchange, and numerous Twitter users served up their hilarious comments:

We’ll hear what Lochte has to say for himself when he appears on television tonight with one of the people to whom he lied: Matt Lauer, who sat down with Lochte for an interview slated to air during tonight’s NBC Olympic coverage, with more airing Monday on “Today”.
