A new book by Linda Thompson sheds new light on Elvis Presley’s tender heart and loving ways.

Thompson, who dated the King of Rock and Roll for nearly five years, reveals new details into her whirlwind romance in her new book, “A Little Thing Called Life: On Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner, and Songs in Between”.

Upon meeting on July 6, 1972, Presley instantly became attached to the blonde beauty and insisted she stays by his side during every waking moment. “He said, ‘But just know that I don’t like to be alone, and I want you to be with me. I really want you to be with me,’” she recalls of her second meeting with the singer. “‘Okay, Okay,’ I said flattered, but not fully understanding the desperate level of his need.”

Thompson’s new book also reveals Presley waited to consummate his relationship with the then 22-year-old virgin. “I want to preserve for you as long as you need. He actually used the word ‘preserve’,” she remembers, before writing about losing her virginity. “We were in our king-sized bed on a pedestal, with a mirrored ceiling above us, reflecting Elvis and me tangled in a loving entrainment of arms, legs, kissed and deeply felt intimacy.”

The love they shared, Thompson says, formed one of the most loving relationships of her life. “The only time I have since known a love so deep and complete was when I gave birth to my sons and felt the unconditional, powerful force of a mother’s love,” she explains.

According to the former beauty queen, Presley had a midlife crisis at the age of 40, which led him to undergo a facelift.

Thompson’s new book, which also details moments from her relationship with exes Bruce Jenner and David Foster, is out now.
