You’ll never guess who kept “The Office” star John Krasinski from joining the Marvel Comic Universe.

In the world of perfectly cast parts, Chris Evans nabbing the role of Captain America has to be close to number one, but if you’ve ever thought about who else could have stepped into the blue and red, we have a feasible frontrunner: John Krasinski.

Opening up to Conan about his time screen testing for the part, the 36-year-old revealed he was one of the top candidates to play Steve Rogers, even going into detail about his (now defunct) audition.

“The only bummer of [the audition] was, I was putting on the suit …and I got to right about my waist, I was still shirtless, feeling pretty good about myself – it wasn’t “13 Hours” yet – but I felt pretty good,” Krasinski explains adding, “and all of a sudden Chris Hemsworth walked by as Thor and he’s like ‘Hey, mate,’ and I went, ‘I’m good. This is stupid. It’s okay. I’m not Captain America.”

Laughing off turning down the role due to Hemsworth’s bulging biceps, at least Krasinski can take pride in knowing that he eventually got buff for his role in the Benghazi movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi”.
