Michael Buble’s calling in the big guns for his next album.
As the Canadian crooner gears up for the release of his ninth studio effort, “Nobody But Me”, featuring the brand new single of the same name, he reveals in an exclusive interview with ET Canada that there was some serious star power involved in the project!
“For the first time ever, I’ve recorded an original [song] that I didn’t write,” Buble reveals. “It’s written by Meghan Trainor and Harry Styles.”
The 40-year-old singer heaps particular praise on Trainor, with whom he spent lots of time in the studio. “Listen, she’s a great singer and a great entertainer,” he gushes. “What [people] may not know is what an incredible writer she is, what an incredible musician she is, [and] the fact that she’s a bada** producer.”
Buble shared the news Wednesday in New York at the launch of his first fragrance, “By Invitation”, available in Canada on September 9.
“The same way we create music with notes, we create fragrance with notes,” he says. “There’s a great complexity, and for me, I was completely enthralled by the science of it.”
And what does his wife, Luisana Lopilato, think of his debut scent?
“If she didn’t love it, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you about it,” he says point blank.
Earlier this year, Buble announced he would undergo vocal surgery. Watch the video below to see what he says about the experience, and tune-in to ET Canada tonight on Global for more of our Canadian exclusive with the four-time Grammy winner.
