Pop star Kylie Minogue will appear alongside Dwayne “The Rock”; Johnson in San Andreas 3D, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The plot will focus on a firefighter (Johnson) who travels from Los Angeles to San Francisco in order to rescue his daughter after a massive earthquake obliterates the west coast. It is not clear at this point which character Minogue will play.
The cast will also include Carla Gugino, who is set to play Johnson’s wife.
The film represents a rare foray into film for Minogue, who tends to only accept acting gigs every few years. (Prior to 2012’s Holy Motors, her last high profile big screen appearance was in 2001’s Moulin Rouge).
Although the film will take place along the American west coast, it will be filmed on the east coast of Australia, which should provide Minogue (who currently lives in London) with an opportunity to get reacquainted with her native country.
The film will be directed by Brad Peyton, who previously directed The Rock in Journey 2.
San Andreas 3D hits theatres June 5, 2015.
