Fans hoping for a Taylor Swift dance gif or two, prepare yourselves for disappointment. The multiple MTV Video Music Awards winner will reportedly not be in attendance at this year’s event.
A source confirmed to People that even though Swift is in New York City, she was “never scheduled to attend the VMAs,” nor will she be.
From her continued beef with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to her nomination-free year, there are a magnitude of reasons why Swift won’t be showing her face.
Last year, Swift made headlines after taking the red carpet by storm with her squad, stepping on stage with Nicki Minaj to open the show (shutting down the pair’s rumoured feud) and presenting frenemy Kanye West with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The latter of which was particularly buzzworthy considering Kanye and Taylor have one of the most iconic moments in the history of the show, when the rapper crashed Swift’s acceptance for “Best Video” to declare “Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
Find out where guests like Kanye West, Britney Spears and Rihanna will be sitting this year.
