Police are confirming the the 55-year-old sister of Mariah Carey has been arrested on suspicion of prostitution.

Officers in Saugerties, New York, confirm that Alison A. Carey, whom police say is a transient, was arrested Friday following an undercover investigation into claims she was prostituting out of a Saugerties hotel. She reportedly told arresting officers that she is the sister of singer Mariah Carey, and Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra says  an internet search of the two women appeared to confirmed the claim.

According to a report in the Mercury News, Alison Carey was placed under arrest after soliciting money in exchange for sex from an undercover police officer posing as a client.

Sinagra said Carey had been advertising her services on the Internet, and had apparently been working out of the hotel for about a week.

One ad, posted in the “adult” category on Friday, features two photos of Carey and states: “Im a pretty lady looking for guys who are looking to have some fun and get into a world of pleasure that other woman just cant provide two you, woman with the ability to make the earth move for you and to get you to see stars, oh yea with me its,”ITS SUCH A SWEET, SWEET FANTASY BABY, WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES I COME AND TAKE YOU ON AND ON.” The final sentence appears to reference Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit “Fantasy”.

Sinagra said that “based on other stories,” anyone who had sexual contact — particularly if it was unprotected — with Alison Carey could have cause for concern, and are urged to see a doctor.

Carey was arraigned in Saugerties Town Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. She is due in Saugerties Town Court on Tuesday.
