Given Brown’s violent past, both tweets garnered polarizing responses from their fan base, with many Twitter users slamming the stars for supporting a man with a well-known history of violence.
Ray J, who was reportedly at the scene of the alleged crime, defended his friend in an emotional Instagram video. “I’m real upset about today. I’m not happy with how things are how handled and blow it up into way more than what it should be,” he said. “To react like that without really knowing the facts ain’t right.”

Keke Palmer and Nick Young, meanwhile, reflected on the media’s coverage of the incident on Snapchat. “I really wish that folks would stop messing with Chris Brown….I wish we would pray for motherf****ers instead of hating ‘em,” Palmer said. “I wish that we could just stop judging folks and really try to ask what’s wrong, what’s going on?”
