Australian actress Teresa Palmer has been selected to play the lead female role in Alcon’s upcoming remake of Point Break, Variety is reporting.

The film will also star Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez in the roles previously played by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in the 1991 original.

Palmer, 28, is best known for her roles in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, I Am Number Four and Warm Bodies.

Gerard Butler had originally been cast in the Swayze role, but he backed out due to a scheduling conflict.

The film, to be directed by Fast & Furious cinematographer Ericson Core, will retain the plot of the original, except it will be set in the world of extreme surfing rather than the world of ordinary, non-extreme surfing.

Palmer can also be seen in Terrence Malick’s upcoming Knight of Cups opposite Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett.
