This week, the social media accounts for “Saturday Night Live” asked fans to nominate who they’d like to see host the show this season, using the hashtag #SNLhost.
While numerous names have emerged, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” actress Donna Lynne Champlin nominated her show’s star/creator/writer (and let’s not forget singer) Rachel Bloom.
Bloom tweeted her appreciation, writing: “I could finally do the impression of Kate Hepburn auditioning for Space Jam that was on my SNL audition tape!”
To which stunned fans replied: You have an “SNL” audition tape? They wanted to know more, and Bloom obliged.
When Entertainment Weekly covered the Twitter exchange, Bloom promised to “post the video when I get home.”
True to her word, she did just that, sharing the hilarious audition in which the baby-faced Bloom impersonates Katharine Hepburn auditioning to play Bugs Bunny in “Space Jam.”
“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on Global, and you can also watch full episodes and individual sketches online. The 42nd season will kick off in October, and keep those fingers crossed we’ll see Bloom onstage in Studio 8H at some point in the season.
