The first two Expendables movies were notable for bringing just about every action star that had been popular during the 1980s and ’90s together under one roof. But as impressive as the casts of those two movies were, there were a few ’80s and ’90s action stars that got away, like Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas and Wesley Snipes. This is corrected in the third film, which in addition to bringing the four aforementioned actors on board, also throws Frasier star Kelsey Grammer and Twilight heartthrob Kellan Lutz into the mix.

Gibson plays Conrad Stonebanks, one of the founding members of the Expendables who has been presumed dead for years. (Barney Ross, Stallone’s character, was forced to kill him after he entered the illegal arms trade). But Stonebanks, it turns out, survived that assassination attempt, and is desperate to get revenge.

In order to stop Stonebanks, Ross hires a few more aging mercenaries to the team (Grammer, Snipes, Banderas) and also hires a team of younger mercenaries (headed by Lutz). But as the trailer hints, the younger crew manage to get themselves kidnapped, forcing the older men to come to their rescue.

Expendables 3 hits theatres August 15.
