Ellen DeGeneres welcomed a very special guest on today’s show: Tony Marrero, who narrowly cheated death when he was among the dozens of victims shot during the horrific massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub.
Doctors have called Marrero’s survival a “miracle,” because all of the bullets fired into his body somehow managed to avoid major organs and his spinal cord.

During his emotional interview, he explains that he credits part of his recovery to Katy Perry and her song “Rise”, which he says has been an ongoing source of inspiration during his recovery.
