Mark Wahlberg On ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’, ‘Entourage: The Movie’

By David Humphreys, .

Of the 27 movies that Mark Wahlberg has starred in since his breakout role as porn star Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights, just about all of them have been rated R. There is a handful of exceptions, like the 2001 version of Planet of the Apes)

Now that Wahlberg is a father of four, the relative lack of PG-rated fare in his filmography has become a problem. To remedy this, Wahlberg will appear in what is shaping up to be the most family-friendly (and also the biggest) movie of his career—Transformers: Age of Extinction. “It was cool to make a movie that my kids can see and that they want to see,”; Wahlberg tells ET Canada’s Sangita Patel. “I think people can relate to a guy doing anything he can to protect his daughter.”;

In addition to his duties as a father and actor, Wahlberg also has to fit into his schedule his duties as a producer (of Boardwalk Empire and Entourage: The Movie), restaurateur (he co-owns the burger joint Wahlburgers), and philanthropist (he founded the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, a charity that helps at-risk youth).

So how does the 43-year-old juggle all of these responsibilities? “[I] just stopped going out at night,”; he says. “It was a process to find out how to manage my family life with my professional life.”;

Regarding the status of Entourage: The Movie, Wahlberg says that the movie recently wrapped, and that he’s pleased with what he’s seen so far. “The movie is done. I saw the movie, it’s fantastic,”; he says. “I have a small cameo. I play myself.”;
