Pharrell Talks Music In ‘Hidden Figures’: ‘It Makes You Feel Better About Your Situation’

Pharrell Williams praised the score of the new film “Hidden Figures”, for which he produced and composed music.

“Hidden Figures” is a biographical drama based on Africa-American mathematics genius Katherine Johnson. Pharrell says there are two tracks on the film audiences should definitely keep an eye out for, first: “There’s a song called ‘Running’ that I wrote for it, that’s about what Katherine must have been thinking as she runs to the segregated bathrooms.”

He also praised another song on the film, “I See a Victory” with gospel singer Kim Burrell: “It’s like rainbows come out of her mouth…

While Pharrell was praising Burrell’s work on “Hidden Figures”, the movie’s lead actress Taraji P. Henson praised the “Happy” recording artist: “Pharrell is an amazing talent. We know his work. I’ve been a fan of his since he was a N.E.R.D.”

Henson goes on to explain that the two are very alike: “We’re the same type of artist. We want to do work that matters because art is powerful. Art can change a life, save a life, heal a life.”
