Priyanka Chopra will soon be seen reprising the role of Alex Parrish in the upcoming second season of “Quantico”, and will also be playing the villain in the upcoming reboot of “Baywatch”, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron.

Her “Baywatch” role, Chopra reveals in a new interview with W, wasn’t envisioned with her in mind — in fact, the role was written as a male.

“They were speaking to me about [playing] one of the lifeguards in the film ‘Baywatch’ and I had a Skype call with [director] Seth Gordon, which was supposed to be 15 minutes and it ended up being two hours,” says Chopra. “The character that I’m playing, which is the antagonist in Baywatch, was written for a man, and then he just changed it and thought that a woman would be really interesting and I ended up playing Victoria.”

Johnson stars as veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (played in the original series by David Hasselhoff), who finds a cocky new rival in rookie lifeguard Matt Brody (Efron), with the pair teaming up after the uncover a conspiracy that endangers the entire beach.

“Baywatch” hits theatres in May 2017.
