Part sci-fi, part monster movie, part ode to alcoholics everywhere, Anne Hathaway’s new film “Colossal” was just that at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
Joining Cheryl Hickey with co-star Jason Sudeikis in the ET Canada Nespresso Festival Central Lounge, Hathaway shared what it was that first drew her to the role.
“It feels very much of the time to me and very classic at the same time,” the 33-year-old explained.
After returning home and rekindling her relationship with the bottle, Hathaway’s character starts to relate to a giant monster who is stomping its way through Seoul, the film leaves the audience to figure out how the catastrophe across the globe is connected to her character.

But we left it up to Cheryl Hickey to find out how the stars felt about their on screen alter egos.
“To the extent that we can confirm [our alter egos], it was a blast!” Hathaway says. Divulging what being she’d pick as her alter-ego in real life, she says, “always a unicorn.”
Co-star Jason Sudeikis went a different, but totally understandable route, picking the unicorn of celebrities: Chris Pratt.
“Oh gosh, that’s a good one!” Anne adds, “Chris Pratt is kind of a unicorn.”
Magical beings aside, Anne tells Cheryl about the one aspect of the film that became very real, very fast: finding out she was pregnant.
“Well the big note was ‘miss the baby’ because I was pregnant,” the actress says of receiving the good news shortly after she was cast.
