After hinting at a possible retirement on Twitter earlier this month, Lil Wayne is confirming that he’s not quite done with music forever.
The rapper revealed that he’s momentarily retiring from his day job thanks to his beef with fellow rapper Birdman, but denied his departure from the music business industry.
“I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun,” Lil Wayne tweeted.
“I have a family, I have kids, I have a mother and we’ve got bills,” he said after claiming that Birdman owes him millions. “And this is business. Once the business is right, then everything is right. So I did feel that way, and I didn’t take the tweet down because I still feel that way, and until something is done about it, then maybe it’ll change.”

Lil Wayne remains embroiled in a $51 million lawsuit with Birdman and Cash Money record over unpaid sums related to the still-unreleased Tha Carter V album.
When asked if he would ever work with Birdman again, Lil Wayne said “no sir.”
“Gimme mine, and I’ll walk off free, smiling,” he added.
