Matt Damon is all smiles while talking the upcoming all-female “Ocean’s Eight” heist flick.
“I can’t wait,” he tells ET Canada. “I think it’s going to be awesome.”
Damon was a part of Danny Ocean’s crew in both “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Ocean’s Twelve”, starring as pickpocket Linus Caldwell.
“I think it’s going to be fantastic”, the actor says while on the TIFF red carpet for the “Manchester By The Sea” premiere, which Damon produced.
“Ocean’s Eight” won’t be a reboot of the original 1960 heist film with Frank Sinatra, or a remake of the Clooney-led films. Instead, it will be set in the same universe as the previous three “Ocean’s” films. The all-female “Ocean’s” film has landed an impressive cast of ladies that includes Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling and rapper Awkwafina.
“They’re gonna kick a$$”, Damon says of the “Ocean’s Eight” cast.
The comedy crime caper, which is set to start filming in October, is rumoured to follow the sister of Clooney’s character, Danny Ocean, as she and her group of thieves set their sights on a jewellery heist during the MET Gala. “Ocean’s Eight” is due in theatres in 2017.
