Jimmy Fallon is addressing the harsh criticism he received after sharing a few laughs with Donald Trump last week.
“The Tonight Show” host laughed off the criticism while speaking with TMZ after the Emmys, insisting that he’s “never too hard on anyone.”
“We’ll have Hillary [Clinton] on tomorrow, and we’ll do something fun with her too,” he added.
The SNL alum was slammed online after the comedian failed to grill the Republican presidential nominee on his often controversial agenda. Fallon, instead, opted to tousle the politician’s much-hated hair. He would later compare its texture to “that grass they have in the Easter basket…it wasn’t that bizarre.”
The Roots meanwhile, played Erykah Badu’s “20 Feet Tall” as Trump took his seat on the NBC stage. As Entertainment Weekly notes, the song was considered to be a hit at Trump’s long-standing proposal to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico border. “Then you, you built a wall/ A 20-foot wall so I couldn’t see,” the lyrics of the song read.
