Emma Watson’s newest efforts as a U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador sees her paying tribute to the many hurdles females have faced throughout history.
The British actress narrates a two-minute video that looks back on the achievements of previous gender equality crusaders while highlighting the work left to be done.
With footage of the 100m women’s race at the 1964 Tokyo Games playing throughout, Watson delivers a motivational speech, inspiring females, young and old, to push through the gender equality-related obstacles that remain.
“There are many huge and high hurdles left to jump. The race is still on, every day of every year of our lives,” she says. “But we will cross the finishing line. No one can stop us.”
“Equality, now,” she adds.
