“Avengers: Infinity War” and the upcoming “Avengers” sequel are set to bring together all corners of the Marvel Comic Universe, which now includes Benedict Cumberbatch.
Speaking with Empire (via Express UK) the actor confirmed that his superhero alter-ego will be a part of the ensemble cast.
“To get us all together will be quite something,” Cumberbatch says. “That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”
All this comes after reports that Doctor Strange will be making at least a cameo in the upcoming “Thor” film “Thor: Ragnarok”. Fans noticed the address on a piece of paper that Chris Hemsworth was holding is the same address of the one and only Sorcerer Supreme.
Another theory floating around the Internet, fans are speculating that Strange’s Eye of Agomotto could potentially be one of the final two Infinity Stones.
Directed by The Russo brothers, “Avengers: Infinity War” and the untitled “Avengers” sequel will be shot back to back to capitalize which actors are on set. Cumberbatch spoke to this as well, telling Empire there is a “logistical challenge of aligning his schedule of those with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.”
“Doctor Strange” hits theatres November 4, with “Thor: Ragnarok” following a year later in November 3, 2017. While “Avengers: Infinity War” is not hitting the big screen until May 4, 2018 there’s lots of time left to speculate on how this band of merry characters will fit into the mix.
