Tatiana Maslany reveals she has a thing or two to learn when it comes to owning a red carpet.
But the “Orphan Black” star, who took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2016 Emmy Awards, is clearly doing something right, posing on the November 2016 cover of Fashion magazine, set to hit newsstands on October 10.
Looking angelic in a white dress with minimal makeup and bare toes, the 31-year-old Canadian beauty shares her views on Hollywood expectations and rebelling against the norm.
“[When I first went to L.A.] I was drawn into this thing where I thought that I should lose weight, curl my hair, tweeze my moustache, whiten my teeth and wear more makeup,” she recalls. “My pride stopped me from all that. I realized I’ve always loved that I don’t look like everyone I see on television. I also don’t want to play perfect or a conventional-looking person.”
Maslany adds that she is still getting used to red carpets. She says, “Let’s just say [doing award shows] feels like being at a cool person’s party and being one of the nerds. Seeing Jennifer Lawrence walk by on the carpet, I’m like, ‘She’s so cool. She gets it. She knows how to do this.’ I think of it as just another performance, but I’m still trying to figure it out.”

The actress also reveals what it was like to star alongside her real-life boyfriend Tom Cullen in the romantic drama “The Other Half”. She says, “When you’re opposite somebody who respects you as an artist, knows you deeply and wants to play with you… that’s all you can ask for.”
