When country music sweethearts Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins aren’t busy setting new standards for relationship goals, the loved-up couple is raising funds for the 147 Million Orphans organization.
Rhett and Akins recently raised over $250,000 during their very first charity concert, which took place Tuesday night in Nashville, Tennessee.
“This event was spurred by Lauren’s heart and 147 Million Orphans’ heart and by how much they love those kids,” Rhett told People magazine.
On Thursday, Rhett thanked attendees and performers for their support via Instagram. “So grateful to everyone that made our @147million benefit a huge success last night. It was a killer show and some deserving kids are going to be blessed because of it,” he captioned a photo from the event. “And thanks to my wife for being such a huge inspiration to me and others.”
The intimate evening drew out friends and fans of the couple for a night of laughs, bidding and performances.
Joining the country crooner onstage were fellow superstars Dierks Bentley, Tyler Hubbard and Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley among many others, who jumped at the chance to contribute to a good cause. “We are super tight with TR and it means so much to us to be able come out tonight, support him and this amazing charity,” Kelley told People. “We have been beyond blessed and any chance that we have to give back we are there!”

Akins explained to the magazine that volunteering for the organization has filled a void in her life and revealed that adoption may just be in the couple’s future. “We both have a huge heart for orphans and I think definitely one day we’d want to [adopt],” the certified nurse said. “Even before we got married, [adoption] is something I’ve been passionate about. My mother is adopted — I’ve been a product of that,” explained Akins.
“If that’s how the Lord wants to design our family, we’ll roll with it. We definitely want kids,” she added.
147 Million Orphans offers critical supplies to orphans in Haiti, Uganda, Honduras and the United States.
