NBC Delays Trump-Inspired ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Episode Again, Now Slated For 2017

The latest high-profile, ripped-from-the-headlines storyline on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” was to have dealt with a brash, controversial multimillionaire presidential candidate whose campaign is rocked by scandal when women start coming out of the woodwork to make damaging accusations against him.

Clearly inspired by the campaign of president-elect Donald Trump, the episode features Gary Cole (“Veep”) playing a Trump-like candidate embroiled in a sex scandal, which was originally to have aired on Oct. 26.

However, NBC decided to delay airing the episode until after the presidential election, announcing plans to air it on Nov. 16 instead. Now that Trump has emerged as the winner, however, the network has decided to pull the episode from the schedule yet again, with Deadline reporting it now won’t be seen until sometime in 2017.

In the meantime, you can still check out this preview of the sure-to-be-controversial episode. “I’m a handsome, charming millionaire — women throw themselves at me,” Cole says in the promo. “Know that I have nothing to hide.” Watch:
