Former ‘Prison Break’ Star Wentworth Miller Feels More ‘Fully Expressed’ Since Coming Out

When Wentworth Miller was invited to attend a film festival in Russia last year, the former Prison Break star used the opportunity to protest the country’s draconian anti-homosexual legislation by writing an open letter in which he outed himself.

In a new interview in the August 2014 issue of Details, Wentworth reveals that coming out as gay has been a freeing experience. “I feel more fully expressed,”; he tells Details. “After Prison Break, I came to grips with the fact that my public persona was in misalignment with how I actually felt. I was out to a handful of people in my twenties, and once I hit 30, I was out to family and friends. But professionally, I was feeding a fantasy. I created this air of “We don’t address that thing.’ “

He admits that he wanted to come out sooner than he did, but was concerned about his responsibility as star of the macho action series Prison Break. “My face was on billboards, and I thought it was my job to act a certain way,”; he says. “But I think audiences knew to a certain degree.”;

We’ll soon be seeing Wentworth Miller back on TV this fall; The CW has announced he’ll be guest starring on the upcoming superhero drama The Flash in the role of supervillain Captain Cold in the series’ fourth episode.
