Rapper Azealia Banks was reportedly removed from Russell Crowe’s hotel suite Saturday night, and the incident is now at the centre of a police investigation.
The Oscar-winning actor invited a group of friends to hang out in his Beverly Hills hotel, TMZ reports. Banks was among the attendees, acting as a “plus one” to rapper/actor RZA, and began to openly criticise Crowe’s music selections.
When a female guest to jump to his defense, Banks began to threaten the pair, allegedly saying, “You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino sh*t.” As she proceeded to grab her glass, Crowe physically removed her from the room and called security.
Banks reported a conflicting different series of events. In a since-deleted Facebook post, she alleged that Crowe choked her, spat on her, and called her the n-word. According to TMZ’s report, however, even RZA agreed it was she who used the racial slur, not Crowe.
On Sunday afternoon, Banks took the matter to Beverly Hills police, filing a battery report after Crowe refused to apologize for the incident. She later returned to her Facebook page to declare, “I have receipts. Stay tuned.”
