Frank Ocean Disqualified From 2017 Grammy Competition — Because The Filing Deadline Was Missed

Despite loads of critical acclaim and fan furor for “Blonde” and his “visual album” entitled “Endless”, don’t look for Frank Ocean to be picking up any awards at next year’s Grammys — because someone on his team missed the deadline to place the new releases in Grammy consideration.

According to Billboard, even though both albums were released well in advance of the Sept. 30 deadline for Grammy contention, neither album was entered for consideration.

Whether this was an oversight or intentional isn’t yet known (Drake’s “Hotline Bling” was ineligible for this year’s Grammys because it was likewise not entered prior to the deadline.

“A rep for the Grammys confirmed that Ocean’s albums had not been submitted for consideration,” reports Billboard, adding reps for Ocean “were not immediately available for comment or had not responded to Billboard‘s requests for comment at press time.”

The Grammy nominations are set to be revealed on Dec. 8.
