An old tale will be getting a new groove, with The Hollywood Reporter reporting Disney has greenlit a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Oliver Twist, featuring the talents of rapper/actor Ice Cube and director Tommy Kail, who helmed the Broadway blockbuster “Hamilton”.

However, it’s likely this new musical will share little with “Oliver!”, the 1968 movie musical (based on the Broadway hit) about an orphan in Victorian London who falls in with a gang of thieving children, led by a felonious fellow named Fagin.

According to THR, Cube is set to play Fagin in the flick, which is described as “a modern musical… crossing many genres, including hip-hop. Cube and Kwatinetz are writing the treatment.”

Disney previously tackled the Dickens classic in the 1988 animated movie “Oliver & Company”, which recast the story as a vehicle for cartoon dogs.
