Amy Schumer Shares Emotional Post On Her Father’s Struggle With MS, Thanks His Doctors

Amy Schumer performed to a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden recently, but there was one audience member she was especially pleased to see: her dad!

Schumer’s father Gordon has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for the past 23 years and lives in an assisted living facility. On Monday, the 35-year-old comedian shared an emotional post on Instagram, expressing gratitude to Gordon’s nurses, aids and doctors for his care.

“I want to thank all his aids and doctors and nurses and Nilda and especially Dr. Sadiq for giving my dad a second chance at life,” she captioned a video of Gordon laughing at her Madison Square Garden show. “He never used to be able to come watch me perform. But he is reborn with the faith you have given him. Everyone at Tisch MS research center thank you.”

Schumer’s dad got to witness his daughter make history with her Madison Square Garden performance on October 18, since she was the first female comic to headline a show at the famed New York City arena.

The actress and comedian paid tribute to her dad in her hit comedy “Trainwreck”, with actor Colin Quinn portraying “Gordon”, her MS-afflicted father, in the semi-autobiographical film.
